Unfortunately standard navigation menu in DotNetNuke is not SEO friendly (as of verion 5). On top of this, standard dnn menu is hard to skin, modify and just work with. This blog post explains reasons you need to consider other navigation components and, may be, switch to Menu Box.

What is the purpose of a DotNetNuke website if no one can find it? I don’t think there are any doubts of how important search engine optimization is nowadays. SEO must be considered, and implemented, throughout the planning, design, development, and maintenance stages of your dnn website.
However, in most cases, dnn portal is already built and has been around for quite a while before its owner starts thinking about SEO asking himself “how come I got no inquires from my site”. Sounds familiar, huh? In this blog post I will write about first steps that should be taken in order to “cure” DNN based portal search engine rankings. Article might be helpful to those who have just built dnn based website as well.
