Skin Installation Guide

Download Skin Installation Guide for DNN 5 or for DNN 6 in PDF format

Coding Staff skins are pretty easy and quick to install. Please follow steps below for skin installation.

  1. Before installing the skin files to the portal it’s necessary to install the Menu Box module first. The module is used for site navigation and is available as a free download. Menu Box installation coincides with any other DNN module installation process.
  2. After the Menu Box module has been installed, navigate to Admin->Extensions or Host->Extensions and click on the Install Extensions Wizard link to install the skin files.
Note: If you can’t locate the Admin->Extensions tab, it is more likely you are using the DNN version below 5.0. In this case follow the skin installation route standard for your DotNetNuke version.
  3. Upload and install the skin package via the Installation Wizard following some simple instructions. The archive package that should be installed at this point has the following name pattern: CS.SkinName_version.zip
  4. After the installation run click the Return link. The skin has been successfully installed to the portal.
  5. We can go ahead and apply the skin to the portal now. Navigate to the Admin -> Site Settings page and locate the Appearance section. The section contains four dropdown menus which should be used to apply corresponding skins and containers to the portal.

Here’s a regular pattern for choosing skins and containers for these four dropdown menus in the skins by Coding Staff:

Dropdown menu title – File Name:

  • Portal Skin –SkinName- Index
  • Portal Container – SkinName-DeafultContainer
  • Edit Skin – SkinName-Edit
  • Edit Container – SkinName-EditContainer

As soon as you’re done setting up skins and containers, click the Update link at the bottom of the page.

Those simple steps will help you to completely install the skin package.
