Setting Power Login as a Default Login Form

The login page on the DNN portal has a standard login form set by default. In order to make a page with the Power Login a default login page we need to do the following:

  1. Create a new page and call it “Login”, for example. You may or may not include the page in the main portal navigation.
  2. Go to the Admin - > Site Settings page and locate the “Advanced Settings” section. The section contains dropdown menu called “Login Page” where you can choose which portal page will serve as a page with the login form.
  3. Choose the page with the Power Login module on it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Update”.
  4. Please, note that the default “Account Login” module responsible for standard login form should also be installed on the page together with the Power Login module for the latter to work correctly. It is possible to hide the default login form from users by accordingly changing its permissions.

Using OpenID Login Option

Power Login DNN module is enhanced with the OpendID service support which allows users to log in to the portal using their OpendID accounts.

  1. Choose the “OpenID” tab in the Power login module.
  2. Indicate your OpenID username in the corresponding field. If you don’t have an OpendID account yet, go to the service official page to register one.
  3. After indicating OpendID username, you’ll be asked to either register a new account with the portal or associate your OpendID account with the portal account if you already registered one previously.

After choosing one of the options, you’ll be able to use your OpendID account to login to the site with the “Subscriber” portal role.

Power Login DNN module is enhanced with the Facebook service support which allows users to log in to the portal using their Facebook accounts. Prior to be able to use the feature we’ll need to go through some steps.

  1. If you do not have an account with Facebook yet, proceed to the Facebook official site to get one.
  2. After creating a Facebook account, we need to register an “Application” in order to generate an API Key and Application Secret number to be able to use the Facebook login option.
